I’m in my third year of a Business Administration degree at ANU, majoring in Management and minoring in International Business. I’m a very organised person and have always been interested in the administration side of business. This degree was ideal, as it allowed me to complete courses that would form part of a Commerce degree whilst also specialising with a greater administration and management focus.
The representation and celebration of First Nations arts and cultures is important at Burgmann College, as we seek to reflect the deep histories, diverse cultures and ongoing truths of Australia.
In 2020, the College established the First Nations Arts Initiative as a core element of our Reconciliation Action Plan. Our ambition was to purchase significant works of art which would become the inaugural acquisitions in a growing collection of works by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists.
Sport at Burgmann started off in fine form this year, with the College currently second in the Interhall Sport Shield standings. After the disruptions of last year, it has been great to see the return of Interhall Sports Organisation (ISO) fun and competition.
Semester 1 kicked off with the annual Queer* Night In, a forum where all ressies are invited to discuss queer issues, share stories, and learn from each other in a safe and welcoming space. In May, we were delighted and honoured to host members of the Tiwi Strong Women’s Group.
The singing group from Bathurst Island were in Canberra for the Canberra International Music Festival and to work with Associate Professor Kim Cunio, Head of the ANU School of Music, who this year joined Burgmann as a Residential Fellow.
